Patola Dupattas - Mirrored Ikat
Patola Dupattas — Mirrored Ikat Geometry from Gujarat's Royal Tradition
A Patola dupatta is one of the rarest and most precious textile accessories in the world — woven in the extraordinary double Ikat technique where both the warp and weft threads are resist-dyed before weaving, creating geometric patterns of perfect symmetry that appear mirrored on both sides of the cloth. The Patola tradition of Patan in Gujarat is over 700 years old, and today only a handful of families — primarily the Salvi family of Patan — still practise the authentic double Ikat technique that makes a true Patola so rare and so precious. The geometric patterns — elephants, parrots, flowers, and intricate diamond grids — are the result of weeks of painstaking resist-dyeing and weaving, making each Patola dupatta a collector's piece of extraordinary cultural and artistic value. At Luxurion World, we also offer single Ikat dupattas from the Pochampally and Sambalpuri traditions — equally beautiful, equally handwoven, and equally rooted in India's great Ikat heritage.
