Description

The Craft Story

Patan Patola is one of the rarest and most technically demanding handloom traditions in the world. Woven in Patan, Gujarat — the ancient capital of the Solanki dynasty — Patola silk has been coveted by royalty, merchants, and connoisseurs for over 900 years. The single ikat technique requires the weaver to resist-dye the weft threads in precise sequence before a single thread is placed on the loom. Yellow holds a place of singular importance in Indian textile tradition — it is the colour of turmeric, of the haldi ceremony, of Vasant Panchami and Baisakhi, of new beginnings and divine blessing. On pure Patola silk, this yellow glows with a warmth and radiance that is simply extraordinary.

Product Details

  • Pure mulberry silk — the finest silk used in Patola weaving, with a natural lustre and fluid drape
  • Single ikat technique — weft threads resist-dyed before weaving to create the characteristic geometric pattern
  • Radiant yellow — the colour of turmeric, blessing, and new beginnings, glowing on pure silk
  • Handloom woven — crafted on a traditional loom by master Patola weavers in Patan, Gujarat
  • GI-tagged craft — Patan Patola carries a Geographical Indication tag certifying its authenticity
  • Heirloom quality — Patola silk is known to retain its colour and lustre for generations

Occasion & Styling

The quintessential dupatta for haldi ceremonies, Vasant Panchami, spring festivals, and festive celebrations. The yellow Patola dupatta pairs beautifully with a plain silk saree or lehenga in ivory, white, green, or saffron. Also a stunning addition to any bridal trousseau — a piece that carries the warmth of tradition and the brilliance of master craftsmanship.

Artisan Impact

Your purchase directly supports the livelihood of Patan Patola weavers — one of the smallest and most endangered weaving communities in India, with fewer than a handful of families still practising this tradition. Luxurion World pays above-fair compensation to every artisan, ensuring this 900-year-old tradition survives for future generations.
