Kanjeevaram silk is a GI-tagged heritage craft woven exclusively in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. The mango butta — a teardrop-shaped motif woven individually into the silk ground using gold zari — is one of the most technically demanding elements of the Kanjeevaram weaver's repertoire, requiring extraordinary precision to achieve the characteristic plump, jewel-like form.
