Kashmiri Sarees — The Embroidered Splendour of the Valley

Kashmir has been synonymous with the world's most exquisite textiles for over 600 years — from the legendary Pashmina shawls that were the obsession of Mughal emperors and European royalty, to the intricate Sozni needle embroidery that can take a master craftsman months to complete on a single shawl or saree. Kashmiri embroidery is defined by its extraordinary delicacy and its naturalistic motifs — the chinar leaf, the almond (badam), the paisley (keri), the lotus, and the intricate floral scrolls that have been the signature of Kashmiri craft since the Mughal era. At Luxurion World, our Kashmiri sarees bring together the finest embroidery traditions of the Valley — Sozni, Aari, Tilla, and Papier-mâché inspired motifs — worked by master craftspeople from Srinagar, Anantnag, and the villages of the Kashmir Valley, with above-fair compensation paid to every artisan.

Kashmir's Great Embroidery Traditions

  • Sozni Embroidery — Delicate needle embroidery worked from the wrong side, creating fine floral motifs on both sides of the cloth
  • Aari Embroidery — Chain stitch embroidery worked with a hooked needle, creating dense, colourful floral designs
  • Tilla Embroidery — Gold and silver thread embroidery, traditionally used for bridal and ceremonial garments
  • Papier-mâché Motifs — The iconic Kashmiri floral and paisley patterns inspired by the Valley's lacquerware tradition
