The Origins and History of Bandhani Saree Traditionally, bandhani sarees were made with cotton or silk fabric and dyed using vegetable dyes. The earliest records of bandhani sarees date back to the 16th century in Gujarat. These sarees were originally worn by the royal families of Gujarat and Rajasthan, and they were typically very expensive due to the labor-intensive process of creating them. In modern times, there are a variety of bandhani sarees available to buy, including those that are made with polyester, nylon and other synthetic fabrics. How to drape a Bandhani Saree? Bandhani sarees are usually worn with a blouse and petticoat, and a dupatta (long scarf) is often draped over the shoulder. It’s important to wear the saree correctly, as it will help to ensure that the intricate pattern of the bandhis are visible. First, the petticoat should be tied around the waist. Then, the saree should be draped around the body, and pleats should be made in the fabric in order to ensure that the pattern of the bandhis is visible. Finally, the dupatta should be draped over the shoulder. 1. Start by draping the saree around your waist. Make sure the pleats are facing the left side of your body. 2. Place the end of the saree on your left shoulder, with the pleats facing down. 3. Take the other end of the saree and drape it around your back, over your right shoulder. 4.
