Chanderi is considered as a sophisticated fabric and is made with silk & cotton. Traditionally this fabric was used to weave nine yard drapes, but now with fusion of traditional and modern weaving techniques, Chanderi is being used, extensively, by fashion designers to create various types Indo-western fusion apparels such as top, tunics etc. Earlier, Chanderi fabric used to be in white color, which used to get dyed in Golden Color. However, in last 50 years, many colors are being used to make the fabric. Chanderi making process comprises: Designing, Dyeing, yarn opening for weft, Warping, Weaving, and Finishing. Chanderi fabric is being made in the place called Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh. It is one of the famous handloom clusters in India. Chanderi fabric needs special care hence It is advisable to dry clean the Chanderi fabric.
