Details

Kota, a town situated in southern parts of Rajasthan, hosts several clusters which have been weaving delicate muslin saris, dupattas and suits, called Kota Doria or Kota Masuria. The word β€˜Dori’ literally translated from Hindi, means β€˜threads’. The checkered patterns in kota doria are known as khats.

FABRIC: Kota Doria, is a distinctive woven fabric with a unique square-checked pattern crafted on fine silk, cotton or a blend of these two fibres. The cotton provides strength to the fabric, while silk makes it more lustrous and lends it a softer touch.

FABRIC: Tissue Silk is an Organza type of fabric. It has an open weave with coloured silk woven in one direction and metallic thread in the other. This gives a shot effect when used flat. Silk Tissue can be totally transformed by scrunching a piece in water. The renowned zari brocade weavers of Benaras are known for weaving the tissue saree, which resembles golden cloth. Tissue as a material is light and easy to carry.
