"This saree has meenakari work done all over the body. This saree has kadwa weaving. In Kadwa weaving, each motif is woven separately as opposed to other Banarasi techniques. Often two weavers weave a kadwa saree. Using this technique, many different motifs of different sizes, colours and textures can be woven on the same saree, which is quite difficult to do otherwise. Kadwa stands for kadha hua or embroidered. Each saree is woven by 2-3 weavers simultaneously in a traditional pit loom often taking almost 4-5 weeks to make just one fine piece of silk.
