Pink Handloom Bhujodi Cotton Saree

Details

Bhujodi is the major textile centre which is about 8 km from southeast of Bhuj, Gujarat. Both cotton and wool are hand-spun, dyed and woven on pit-looms, to create earthy but sophisticated scarves, shawls, blankets and carpets. Products are often subtly embellished with touches of hand-embroidery or mirror-work. The most famous weaving community is located at the village of Bhujodi, a few kilometers outside of Bhuj.

FABRIC: Cotton fabric is a natural fabric and is used to make light weight sarees. This material is a favorite because it keeps the wearer cool and is easily washed. Cotton fabric is very popular in a tropical country like India, because of the soft twist imparted by the hand, maintains the hairiness of the yarn to an extent, which gives maximum comfort. Cotton is used to create beautiful saris and is an integral part of the sari weaving tradition of India.
