This is a semi pashmina stole. Pashmina (also known as Pashm) is a fine cashmere wool, coming from Kashmir in India. The word ‘Pashmina’ comes from the Persian word ‘Pashmineh’ which means ‘made from Pashm’, and Pash means wool in Persian.
Because of its unique softness and comforting warmth, pashmina is also known as the diamond fabric and the soft gold of high Asia.
Kashmiri embroidery is created by using thick colored threads as well as beads to create different patterns. Most Kashmiri motifs that are used to create this form of embroidery include images inspired by nature such as vines, birds, leaves and flowers and this is one of the defining aspects of this form of embroidery.
Pashmina is also quite unusual in that it actually becomes softer and more comfortable with each use, actually making it gentler on your skin each and every time you have the luck to wear it. With proper care, the diamond fabric will last a lifetime or more. This is evident in the fact that pashminas have been handed down from generation to generation in royal and wealthy families throughout the world.
