Phulkari Dupatta

Phulkari embroidery technique from Punjab region literally means flower work. Simple and sparsely embroidered odini (head scarfs), dupatta and shawls, made for everyday use, are called Phulkaris, The embroidery is done with floss silk thread on coarse hand woven cotton fabric. Geometrical patterns are usually embroidered on the Phulkari dupattas. Phulkaris are worn by women all over Punjab during marriage festivals and other joyous occasions. A face of fashion that finds its first mentions in Punjabi folklore of the romantic protagonists - Heer and Ranjha, Phulkari is a dream weave of every Punjabi girl. A Phulkari dupatta mixed and matched with ethnic jewelry in contrast colors looks admirable.
