FABRIC: Tussar Silk, also often referred to as ‘Wild Silk, Tassar Silk, or Tusar Silk is an exquisite thread obtained from a wide winged moth that is yellowish-brown in colour. Tussar silk is a lot more textured than any other variety of Silk. The fabric is also cooler than the other varieties and is a lot more porous, therefore, breathable. Being cooler than the other varieties of Silk makes Tussar extremely wearable in warmer parts of the world. Tussar silk has shorter fibres, which makes it less durable. It has a dull gold sheen. Tussar silk takes up colours quite easily due to its rich texture and the final product is a saree with a rich, deep hue with a natural shine. Hence, Tussar silk sarees come in a variety of color combinations; the usual norm is to pair a neutral tone such as a beige or a honey with something bright such as pink, green, red, and the like. The overall look and grace that emanates out of such color combinations is something every elegant lady would vouch for. Buy Tussar silk sarees to wear at any occasion and enjoy the attention.
FABRIC: Dupion Silk (meaning double) is produced when two or more silkworms spin their cocoons closely together. Dupion silk is the most widely known silk and is made in India. It is a medium weight silk and has a slub that gives it a textured effect. Dupioni has a crisp, scrunchy hand, a rough, uneven texture and a dull luster. This silk is easy to dye so fabrics are often brightly colored. Dupioni silk is a handwoven silk that is traditionally dyed with a variety of vegetable-based dyes. Newly woven silk is stiff to the touch. Washing the material however, softens it and shrinks the silk by up to 25 percent. This shrinkage is problematic when dealing with store-bought clothing, but by washing the fabric before sewing, you can get the shrinkage out of the way.
