Aari work is a traditional form of hand embroidery, which was developed during Mughal era of 12th Century. The embroidery is known for its delicate threadwork where zari, cotton, silk threads are used. . Sometimes, artisans embellish the outfit or cloth with sequins, stone etc in between the embroidered patterns on these designer sarees. The intrinsic embroidery is created with the help of a pen-like needle. Medinipur in West Bengal is one of the important towns where Aari work is practiced.

FABRIC: Silk is one of the finest variety. It is created by twisting 2-filaments together to create a sturdier and more durable fabric. Due to the nature of its creation, it also makes an interesting textured background for any work that is to be done on the fabric to make it unique. It is known for its versatility, softness and comfort. It can be weakened by sunlight and perspiration.

CARE: Depending on how silk has been treated it may need to be drycleaned, hand washed, or may be machine washable. It may turn yellow and fade with the use of a high iron setting. A press cloth (a cloth used between an iron and a garment) and a steam iron are recommended.

Note: There may be a slight colour variation in the image from original product due to various reasons like configuration of computer monitor, colour scheme of computer, lighting of the photograph etc.
