Karva Chauth – the celebration of marital bliss

Karva Chauth, one of the many Hindu festivals is celebrated on the fourth day of waning moon after Purnima in the month of Kartika. It is a fasting ritual observed by women who seek the longevity, prosperity and well being of their husbands. This festival is very popular amongst married Hindu women in the western and northern parts of India, primarily in Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. During the Karva Chauth festival, married women dedicate the day to their husbands. Normally women who observe this festival are called “Saubhagyawati” meaning ‘joyous and happy status of wifehood’.

The festival is typically celebrated immediately after the autumn harvest. Hence, it is also the best time to meet friends and relatives and exchange gifts. At Luxurion World, we love festivals and want you to celebrate them with full vigour and fanfare. What better occasion than Karva Chauth to buy new fineries for yourself and for your loved ones.

To avoid last minute shopping hassles, we would advise you to be prepared much before. This includes not only shopping for clothes but also pays items and gifts for others. If you wish, go for a hair spa and facial a couple of days preceding Karva Chauth. After all leave no stone unturned when it comes to looking your best and receiving compliments from your spouse.

For occasion like Karva Chauth, choosing ethnic wear is most important. Sarees or lehengas in bright shades looks best. Go for red, pink or orange as three colours signify marital bliss and also portray happiness and gaiety. Gota patti sarees or lehengas and those adorned with embellishments look bright and beautiful on this day. Alternatively, one could go for bandhej sarees in colourful hues for that divine look. Brocade work on sarees is a good option too, if you are a newlywed bride. In this case, try Banarasi or Amravati sarees which have a raw flavour of opulence and grace. If you are opting for an anarkali or Patiala suits, pay special emphasis on duapatta. Those with phulkari work on them or other embroidered ones are a hot favourite ones among women.

When preparing for your look, jewellery plays an important role. Pair up your ethnic garment well with suitable jewellery that speaks of your personality as a woman in love with her customs. Henna dyed hands, painted toes and bright make up works well with any get up, heavy kohled eyes, a bindi, some mascara and hair accessories completes the Karva Chauth and wish you many more years of celebration.
