The Pious days of Navratri – #Day 6

The main celebration of Durga Puja commences from Shasthi, i.e., Day 6 of Navratri. Sashti is when Goddess Durga descends to earth with her four children Lakshmi, Saraswati, Kartikeya and Ganesh. The colourful idols of the Goddess that have been handcrafted and installed for the festival are unveiled on this day.

On the sixth day, it is the Goddess Katyayani who is worshipped. Devotees wear the colour white and offer honey as ‘bhog’ to please the Goddess. One can go a little creative and make vrat-friendly honey chilli potatoes for snacks.

White is associated with light, goodness, innocence, purity and beauty. It is the amalgamation of the seven inherent colours of the rainbow. Considered to be the colour of perfection, white means safety, purity and cleanliness. White can represent a successful beginning. Incorporate a white look on this day and see how it marks the beginning of new happy days for you.
